Participation & GTC


Participation in the Usability Award competition is open to companies of all sizes from around the world, to design and architectural offices, to communication and PR agencies, as well as to development and engineering offices.


Submitted products must be manufactured in an industrial manufacturing process and must correspond to the product categories of the competition. Digital solutions must be professionally programmed and designed. Each participant can submit up to six individual products. A product may be registered in up to two different product categories. Products that apply for the competition must have been launched on the market no longer than two calendar years prior to their submission date.

Submission Procedure

Submissions are registered via an online form. Submissions that are accepted to the competition must be delivered as fully functional original products for adjudication in the competition’s special exhibition at IFA.


Products that have already received a Usability Award or a Usability Park public prize (the Usability Award’s predecessor) are excluded from participation, unless they have undergone considerable changes in function or design in the meantime. If this is the case, the submitting entity must provide information and proof thereof with the application. One-off and craft products are excluded from participation.
